When the New Jersey superior court ruled Wednesday for Bellator MMA that on April 25, Colorado Springs-born MMA fighter Benson Henderson had a solution. Add him to the card.
Henderson sent out an open challenge on Twitter on Wednesday:
Hey looks like u guys need some help for …I can make 170lbs by then, any takers???
— Benson Henderson (@BensonHenderson)
A number of fighters responded. Some joking, others serious.
We were scheduled before lets do it now!!

170lbs??? A lil short for 155 for me…
— Benson Henderson (@BensonHenderson)
170 sounds good to me

If needs me for double duty, I will step up to fight after I beat Alexis earlier on ![]()

. I’m broke and can’t seem to get a fight and you are looking for an opponent. I’m game! 170lb
— sarah moras (@sarahcheesecake)
I would be down for that. It would be an honour to fight a former UFC champ.

As to what the plans are, he was a little cryptic in a couple of tweets:
Thx for the offer boys, , but looks like I just got my dance card stamped…

Henderson last fought on Feb. 14, a submission win in the fourth round against Brandon Thatch at the Broomfield Events Center.
So what’s the solution? No clue. But it would be a welcome addition to the UFC card.
In a release from the company Wednesday, UFC responded to the ruling about Jackson:
UFC understands that Mr. Jackson is considering an emergency appeal, and UFC is also considering action to protect its rights and minimize damages regarding this matter. UFC 186 in Montreal, Canada will proceed as planned and UFC is currently evaluating its fight card options.
