First-year Colorado State football coach Mike Bobo detected a bounce in the step of his players Saturday during a scrimmage held at the Denver Broncos’ facility at Dove Valley.
This marked the fourth year that CSU has held a Denver-area scrimmage, but the Rams’ first visit to Broncos headquarters. The scrimmage was attended by CSU donors and season-ticket holders.
“I thought it was an awesome idea,” Bobo said. “It’s always nice to get on a bus and go somewhere and play. With more people at the scrimmage … guys were excited about today.”
The on-field performance reflected that excitement, he said.
“I thought we improved from our last scrimmage (of the previous Saturday),” Bobo said. “We improved offensively in our execution in between the 20s, a lot of big plays.
“Defensively, I thought we ran to the ball harder. We hit harder. We’re still giving up too many plays in the passing game. But overall, it was an improvement from the first scrimmage.”
CSU has three more regular practices scheduled before next Saturday’s spring game at Hughes Stadium.
