Officials announced Monday evening that in Park County was fully contained.
The blaze was sparked Sunday by recreational shooters and was being called the Snyder 2 fire. It was 3 miles southeast of Kenosha Pass overlook in the Pike National Forest off Park County Road 56 north of Fairplay.
The fire was reported about 4:30 p.m. Sunday. It began in same area where the first Snyder fire was in May 2011, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Full containment was reached about 5 p.m. Monday.
In Durango, firefighters continued to fight a wildfire that started Sunday and was burning near the 4000 block of La Plata County Road 213, which is on Southern Ute tribal land. It was at 60 acres Monday night and 40 percent contained, according to a county official. Forecasters are calling for high winds in the area Tuesday.
The blaze, called the 213 fire, burned heavily Monday on both sides of the Animas River, according to Durango Fire Rescue.
“No homes have been damaged by the fire, and no homes are currently evacuated,” officials said in a news release. The cause of the 213 fire is under investigation.
