Authorities in Weld County are searching for those responsible for stealing $267,000 in drill bits from an oil and gas site near Milliken.

The county sheriff’s office said Wednesday the seven bits were recently taken from the active site.

“When the guys went down to get the drill bits they were gone,” said Cpl. Sean Standridge.

Standridge said the bits were stolen from a site operated by Canada- based Ensign Energy Services Inc., which according to company records operates at three locations in the Milliken area and throughout the county.

Anyone with information on the stolen bits are asked to call the sheriff’s office at (970) 356-4015.
