The Keystone Policy Center, which oversaw the deliberations of Gov. John Hickenlooper’s oil and gas task force, Wednesday called for the creation of a a statewide body to continue dealing with drilling issues.

The 21-member oil and gas task force was created by Hickenlooper to find ways to deal with land use conflicts between communities and drillers.

But in a letter to the governor and legislative leaders Keystone Center CEO Christine Scanlan said there were unresolved “grey areas.”

“The crux of the difficulty that still remains is the relationship between state and local authorities on aspects of oil and gas permitting,” Scanlan wrote.

To deal with unresolved issues, Scanlan called for a “statewide entity’ that would serve as a forum for landowners, communities, developers, agricultural interests and the public.
