A 16-year-old Legacy High School student was arrested Thursday evening, accused of leaving a threatening message in a school restroom earlier in the day.
According to Broomfield police, at about 10:45 a.m. several students discovered a threatening message written in one of the girls’ bathrooms. The message read: “I am going to shoot up the school tomorrow, Happy Friday.”
The students reported the incident to campus security, who then contacted police. After an investigation, the student was identified and arrested at her home in Westminster at approximately 7:30 p.m.
She was booked and released to her parents pending misdemeanor charges, including interference with staff, faculty, or students of an educational institution, menacing, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Officials said Broomfield police and Adams 12 Five Star School Administration believe that the written statement was not credible and posed no threat.
