Mother of deceased Air Force Academy cadet missing; family seeks public’s help

The mother of an Air Force Academy cadet who died earlier this month went missing Wednesday night and rescue teams continue to search for her Thursday morning in an open space in southwest Colorado Springs, the fire department said.

April 2 after being found in his dorm room with injuries.

Quiros’s family contacted 11 News Wednesday night after Ksenia, Quiros’s mother, went missing. According to her husband, she left their Colorado Springs home Wednesday morning in a 1998 red Dodge Ram. She left her purse behind.

Fire Capt. Steve Oswald said Thursday morning that a dozen firefighters, including four on dirt bikes, are at Stratton Meadows Open Space at Cresta Road and La Veta near South Suburban and Gold Camp reservoirs, where the truck was located.

The police department said they were notified that a “suicidal female” was in the area.
