Interview with Scott Brandon, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: I bought a car when I was 13, spent a year restoring it. When I took it to a body shop to have them paint it, they were so impressed with my work, they hired me. I was a full-time painter along with going to high school. At 19, I started a my own body shop in Northglenn. I sold it in 1995 and started Northglenn Auto Body in March of 1996.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: We believe that our success is because of consistently high quality repairs, and we really strive for the best customer service. The No. 1 complaint in this industry is not keeping the customer informed. We try to contact every customer during the repair process to keep them up to date on what’s going on. Most people are not experts in being involved in an accident. It is at least very stressful if not traumatic for them. We understand that and try to be compassionate about their needs.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: After 36 years, I still really enjoy dealing with people.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: The changing technology. the hybrid vehicles, the electric vehicles, the aluminums, carbon fibers. The lack of technicians. There has been a shortage of techs in this business for many years. As the population increases and the number of vehicles in the area increase, the lack of techs has become our biggest challenge.
