The Colorado Rapids announced Wednesday forward Charles Eloundou has been recalled from USL affiliate Charlotte Independence.

The Cameroonian striker has played 228 minutes in three starts with Charlotte. The 20-year-old adds depth to the Rapids attacking corps as the club prepares to play three games in nine days, beginning Friday against Dallas at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

“We wanted to give him the opportunity to get his match sharpness and he has justified our faith since he has been there,” Paul Bravo, Rapids VP of soccer operations said in a news release. “He has earned the right to come back and be a part of the group here.”

The Rapids were thin last weekend up front after rookie striker Dominique Badji was held out with a hamstring injury. Midfielder Carlos Alvarez continues to make progress from an early season ankle injury and isn’t ready to play. Colorado is also without winger Dillon Serna, who is away with the U.S. U-23s.

On Tuesday, Rapids head coach Pablo Mastroeni said the club was also , but he remains in Charlotte.
