Employees at a high-end Aspen clothing store and police used the license plate on a woman’s Porsche to link her to and arrest her in a shoplifting case from more than two years ago, officials say.
Authorities arrested Jillian Epstein White, 59, a part-time Woody Creek resident, Tuesday night on suspicion of shoplifting from Brunello Cucinelli on April 16, 2013. That’s when she allegedly swiped a brown, suede pullover with a retail value of $4,145, according to an arrest affidavit.
A Pitkin County deputy apprehended White at the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport on an Aspen Police Department warrant. White was released from jail at about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday after posting $2,500 bail, a jail official said.
Police obtained the store’s video footage of the incident from April 2013, but the case went unsolved at that time.
