Larimer County authorities have identified a man who police say early Thursday in Fort Collins.
Police say Darrell Hoyer, 65, shot his wife, Merta Martindale Hoyer, 62, in the back of the head before turning a gun on himself.
Officers were called to the 2200 block of Eastwood Drive at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday on reports of “suspicious circumstances where a woman may have been injured.”
First responders at the scene found Merta Martindale Hoyer’s body.
Darrell Hoyer was found dead a short time later near the Edora Pool and Ice Center, police said.
Police say there are no additional suspects being sought nor any reason to believe there is further risk to the community.
