Denver authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in the of a 26-year-old man in the Cole neighborhood.

in the shooting and another person was critically wounded, police said.

Police say at about 9:45 p.m. on April 29 a black male suspect walked up to a home near the intersection of 35th Avenue and Williams Street and fired on Perez and the person with him.

A $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and prosecution in the case has been issued.

Authorities say Perez died at Denver Health Medical Center from a gunshot wound. His cause of death has been ruled homicide.

Another person, identified only as a male, was seriously wounded in the shooting.

The shooting happened about two blocks from to rally against violence in the city and mourn the death of a at a funeral.

On Thursday, city, state and federal officials pledged a coordinated effort in the battle against violence while urging community members to help investigators.

The city said it the tide of recent increased gang violence, which includes multiple fatal shootings in northeast Denver. In addition, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will install 15 surveillance cameras in those Denver neighborhoods most affected.

There have been 12 people killed in Denver gang violence this year, police say.
