
1 Snack attacker. A shoplifter shoved an employee of the Dollar Tree at 10260 E. Colfax Ave. when she tried to get him to remove the frozen burritos and candy that he was hiding in his jacket sleeves April 16. The suspect was pretending to talk on an imaginary cell phone when he shoved past the door and got onto the bus across the street.
2 Bedtime break-in. A man was putting his children to bed at his home in the 20000 block of East Caspian Circle when he heard a loud crash downstairs. The front door had been kicked in and there were sets of footprints circling around in the snow April 17.
3 No cigarette? I’ll take the package. Police were called to the 1700 block of South Tuscan Street because a contracted house painter watched a man steal a package from his client’s porch April 20. The suspect wandered up to the house from down the block and asked the painter for a cigarette. The painter didn’t have one, so the suspect grabbed a package off the porch and walked away.
4 Missing phone. A woman who lives near East Alameda Avenue and South Peoria Street called police April 16 because her son’s phone was stolen while he was at a party. The phone was off and couldn’t be traced.
5 Package problems. A man who lives in the 1400 block of South Ensenada Street called police because someone stole a package from his porch April 15.
6 Mysterious money. A woman who lives in the 21100 block of East Flora Place got a letter from the IRS on April 8 stating that she would receive more than $15,000 for her 2014 tax refund, but the woman never filed her 2014 taxes. The money never came.
