A Denver police officer paid $150 out of his own pocket to help a stranded woman abandoned by her boyfriend and penniless buy a bus ticket back home to Texas last month.

“When our officers get called out, it’s because someone is having a pretty bad day,” police announcing the good deed.

Officer Rick Guzman met the woman on April 19 as she had just arrived from Texas with her boyfriend. The couple got into an argument and she was abandoned by her partner with “only the clothes on her back,” police said.

“Guzman responded to the scene, on a report of a domestic violence incident, and found (the woman) in dire straits,” the post said. “She didn’t have any money, any transportation and was unable to get in touch with her family in Texas.”

Police say Guzman took the woman, whose identity was not released, to a Greyhound Station and bought her a bus ticket back home.

Police say Guzman made “her bad day a little bit better.”
