Aurora authorities say they caught a police impersonator red-handed early Monday after officers stopped his Subaru — outfitted with flashing emergency lights — as he tried to pull a woman over.
Antonio Marcus Arbogast, 22, was arrested on suspicion of impersonating a peace officer, harassment and reckless driving.
A woman called police at about 1:15 a.m. on Monday to report she was being followed in the area of East Montview Boulevard and North Dallas Street by a possible police impersonator.
“The female described to the 911 dispatcher the vehicle was an older model Subaru Legacy using a white strobe light mounted inside the vehicle,” Aurora police said in a news release. “There were amber flashing lights on his vehicle’s rear deck.”
Authorities say the woman stayed on the phone with a dispatcher for several minutes while the vehicle continued to follow her until nearby officers arrived and pulled over both her and Arbogast.
“(Arbogast) was armed and was wearing a gray security uniform with no identifiable police badges or insignia,” the release said.
