
Jefferson County School District officials say they didn’t intend to raise political hackles when by Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper to Lakewood High for a bill signing. But they did anyway.
In a district known for its Republican-leaning school board, any rebuff of a Democrat — even if unintentional — will be seen through a political lens.
Lisa Pinto, Jeffco spokeswoman, said the governor’s visit would have been logistically impossible in the final days of school.
It is difficult to believe a school where Super Bowl halftime entertainer Katy Perry performed would have had that much of a problem hosting the governor.
Jeffco swears Hick is welcome to come any other time. But for now, this rejection looks bad.
