COLORADO SPRINGS — Former state Attorney General John Suthers rolled to a landslide victory in this city’s mayoral runoff Tuesday.

Suthers had nearly 69 percent of the vote, and his opponent, Mary Lou Makepeace, conceded within minutes after the first results were announced.

In his victory speech, Suthers said the citizens of Colorado Springs were “loud and clear.”

“They want a more collaborative environment in City Hall,” he said. “They want to fix the city’s infrastructure problems. … They want to see Colorado Springs moving again. And as their new mayor, I’m ready to take on the challenge.”
