Drivers in traffic near the intersection of Interstate 25 and Sixth Avenue have something new to look at: What is billed as Colorado’s tallest flagpole is now in place at Sixth and Bryant Street.

Time Plumbing and Heating installed the flagpole at its new headquarters, 2525 W. Sixth Ave., and raised one of the state’s largest flags at a special ceremony on Memorial Day.

The flagpole stands at 154 feet with a flag that is 60 feet by 30 feet. The flag does not have to come down during the evening hours because Time Plumbing has three lights that keep the flag sufficiently lit. The flag only has to be lowered to half staff when ordered by the governor, according to Kristie Coder, an employee at Time Plumbing and Heating.

Coder said Time Plumbing and Heating’s owners, Brad and Judith Apple, wanted to show respect to the American military and all those who have served. The flagpole also has a large memorial plaque dedicated to the country’s fallen soldiers.
