Saturday: The relatively small Children’s Museum of Denver gets a big addition this weekend with Joy Park: An Outdoor Adventure. The park uses year-round outdoor play as a learning tool by mimicking the geography of the dynamic land around it. Kids get a chance to get dirty as they roll down hills, cartwheel through mock-meadows, slide down “dueling” zip lines, build dams in streams and spelunk through tunnels. It’s part the 42-year-old museum’s $16 million expansion project, which will create a 9-acre campus and double its overall size. (Joy Park is the first of six new “Playscapes.”) Ages 2 and up. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 13 at 2121 Children’s Museum Drive. $7-$9, children under 1 are free. 303-433-7444 or .
