The Colorado State Patrol confirmed Friday night that one person died after a car went into Clear Creek.
U.S. 6 remained closed west of Golden following the incident.
The car was first spotted in the creek at about 3:45 p.m., and the dead person was found inside.
A department spokesman said it appeared that the unidentified male was the only occupant in a 1994 Subaru station wagon.
No details were immediately available on how the accident occurred.
