RIDGWAY, Colo. (AP) — A woman known in southwest Colorado as “the horse lady” for boarding horses, mules and donkeys is recovering from serious injuries after some of the animals spooked and trampled her.
KUSA-TV reports (http://on9news.tv/1C7SmEJ ) that Alice Billings was injured Sunday in Ridgway when her dog jumped out of a nearby truck’s back window and began chasing the mules in their corral.
Ridgway Marshall’s Officer Lance Fitzgerald says the mules knocked Billings over and she was stepped on multiple times. He says Billings suffered substantial injuries to her arm and lost consciousness for some time.
Billings is an artist known for her whimsical paintings of equines.
