The Daily Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/1cZJDxz ) that 31-year-old Derek Thompson pleaded guilty to a single count of careless driving resulting in death. He is scheduled to be sentenced July 17 and faces up to a year in jail.

He was driving a truck that struck and killed 30-year-old Timothy Randall, of Grand Junction, and 19-year-old David Moore Jr., of Clifton on Nov. 5. The oil and gas workers had been helping a motorist with a broken-down vehicle.

At his hearing Monday, Thompson apologized to the victims’ families.

Randall’s widow Nichole McKissen said she wasn’t looking for an apology and she doesn’t think one will help.
