A 21-year-old woman was rescued Monday in Larimer County after she fell about 50 feet from atop a cliff while volunteering with a nature conservancy group.
County officials say had she not landed on a ledge, she would have fallen about 400 feet further into the north fork of the Cache La Poudre River.
The county sheriff’s office was called to the area of Andrews Park Road at about 12:45 p.m. on reports of the woman’s fall.
“Fire and medical personnel were able to rope down to reach the woman where they assessed her injuries and secured her so she would not fall any further,” the sheriff’s office said in a Thursday news release.
A vertical rope system was rigged to lift the woman up the cliff and just before 5 p.m. she was carried to an ambulance and taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, the release said.
