Police departments around metro Denver teamed up Sunday night spotting, chasing and catching a man in a stolen vehicle associated with a murder. The man was wanted on multiple warrants.
Westminster Police made the final stop at U.S. 36 and Church Ranch Boulevard using the tire-piercing speed sticks to halt the vehicle, Westminster investigator Kate Kazell said. “We had a pursuit with him.”
An Aurora Police officer who had reviewed a bulletin form another agency initially spotted the stolen vehicle, associated with a murder suspect, agency spokesman Judy Lutkin said.
“So, our officer tries to stop him. He keeps going. It starts around Mississippi and Chambers,” Lutkin said.
Nobody was hurt, Kazell said, as officers prepared to book the suspect into a Jefferson County facility late Sunday. No names or other details were released.
Aurora Police followed the vehicle northbound on Interstate 225 to I-70. When the vehicle headed west on I-70 to I-25, Denver Police got involved. Police notified Westminster as the suspect turned west from northbound I-25.
Speeds did not exceed 65 miles per hour, Lutkin said.
Adams County assisted on I-25 until the vehicle turned west on U.S. 36 toward Westminster.
