Tonight-July 18: Everybody has their favorite ensemble at the Bravo! Vail music festival, and for fans of big strings, that is usually The Philadelphia Orchestra. Philly pulls in for its annual week-long residency tonight, starting off with Beethoven and moving through Dvorák and Tchaikovsky. The concerts culminate with a program called, appropriately, “Celebrating the Philadelphia Sound,” with Sibelius’ Violin Concerto No. 1, featuring guest soloist Augustin Hadelich and Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain” and “Pictures at an Exhibition,” arranged for the orchestra’s lush sound by the legendary Leopold Stokowski. That’s at 6 p.m. July 18, Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, 530 S. Frontage Road E., Vail. $29-$119. 877-812-5700 or .
