Re: “California’s vaccination bill may go a bit too far,” July 4 editorial.
I object to your editorial, which was reprinted from The Washington Post. As a primary care physician with more than 40 years of experience, and a degree in public health, I strongly disagree that California is overreaching by eliminating all but medical exclusions for childhood vaccinations. Reactions to vaccinations are rare, and benefits are clear-cut. Deaths have occurred in the recent outbreak of measles in California. Public health should override purported religious objections. Others are put at risk by these exclusions.
