
1 Big Gulp spill. A patrolling police officer ran the plate of a suspicious car left in the parking lot of the Walgreens at 18620 E. Iliff Ave. July 3 and realized that it was stolen. The seats of the car were covered in red stains, but investigators determined that was from a Big Gulp soda that was spilled.
2 Steaks and milk. An employee of the Walmart at 10400 E. Colfax noticed a nervous man in the parking lot with several unbagged items June 29. He asked the man for a receipt, but he just drove off. The employee sent the license plate number to police, who found the suspect at home and retrieved four gallons of stolen milk, a package of tortillas and two trays of steaks from him.
3 Helpful neighbors. A woman heard glass shattering on the back porch of her neighbor’s home in the 15800 block of East Mercer Place, so she called police June 26. The first pane on the sliding glass door was broken, but no one got inside the house.
4 Dine and ditch. The shift manager at Sam’s No. 3 Restaurant at 2580 S. Havana St. called police June 23 because a man gave his waiter a declined credit card to pay for his food. The suspect then ran out the door and got away.
5 Casual vandalism. Police responded to the 3000 block of North Uvalda Street because someone threw a large rock at a man’s passenger side door while the car was parked in his driveway June 25. The door was dented. There are no suspects.
6 Swiped rims. A man reported that someone stole four tire rims off of his balcony in the 100 block of South Joliet Circle while he was gone for work June 26.
