It could be a wet afternoon in the Denver metro area.

Scattered thunderstorms with high winds and possibly hail are expected to sweep into the area Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service in Boulder reported. The storms are moving to the northeast and, as of 2:40 p.m., the heaviest storm was reported in northeast Boulder County.

“We can expect heavy rain and some small hail,” said Kyle Fredin of the NWS. One storm cell was moving toward Denver International Airport around 2:40 p.m., he said.
