Forecasters say Wednesday will be the start of a warming and drying trend in the Denver area, as partly sunny skies settle over the city.

The National Weather Service in Boulder is calling for a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. A high near 88 degrees is expected in Denver.

“There will be scattered showers and thunderstorms over the mountains, with isolated thunderstorms on the plains,” the weather service said in a forecast bulletin. “Most of the storms will only produce light rain, but a few may produce gusty winds and brief, heavy rain.”

Mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-90s are expected on Thursday and Friday.

“There will be a slight chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms Saturday through Monday, especially over the plains,” according to the bulletin. “Temperatures will be slightly above normal.”
