A 55-year-old Arvada man pleaded guilty Thursday that left a 17-year-old high school senior dead and another teen seriously injured, Jefferson County prosecutors say.

admitted to vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and first-degree assault in the wreck that killed Lyneah Dike of Westminster.

Lyneah was in a Chevrolet Cobalt driven by an 18-year-old woman when Bunn slammed into them head-on along the 7500 block of Wadsworth Boulevard in Arvada. The 18-year-old was seriously injured in the wreck.

Prosecutors say Bunn was heading south on the boulevard and crossed several lanes of traffic as he veered into the northbound lanes and slammed into the Cobalt.

“Bunn was driving under the influence of alcohol and texting at the time of the collision,” prosecutors said in a news release. “His (blood alcohol level) was over .2, which is over twice the legal limit.”

The legal blood alcohol limit for driving is .08.

“She was a very bubbly, happy girl who was always laughing,” Mona Figolah, Lyneah’s grandmother, told The Denver Post after the crash. “She was really excited she just got tickets to a concert. She was thinking about going to college. She just started looking at colleges.”

Bunn is set to be sentenced Sept. 3 and faces a mandatory prison sentence of from 10 to 50 years.
