It appears that we can get some extended warm and dry weather for a while early in the month of August, but we will probably then head right back into a cooler and more unsettled pattern for the middle and later part of the month.

We can still see some afternoon thunderstorm activity in the first part of the month, but most of the activity will likely be in the mountains.

The month of August has our average daily temperatures starting to slide from a normal high of 90 and a normal low of 60 on Aug. 1 down to a normal high and low of 84 and 54 on the last day of the month.

Overall, we expect temperatures for the month to wind up a degree or two below the normal values, with the rainfall amounts likely to wind up above the normal.

Most of the rainfall and the most frequent rainfall should occur during the last week of the month.
