About 4,600 in the area of Conifer and Tiny Town could be without electricity until Wednesday morning after a power pole broke Sunday night.
The Intermountain Rural Electric Association says the pole will not be repaired before Tuesday evening at the earliest.
“Normally this would be a fairly straightforward process, but this is in a very steep, rocky and fairly inaccessible area,” Mike Kopp, an IREA spokesman said Monday.
Kopp said customers lost power about 11 p.m.
The broken structure is on the Xcel Energy Transmission line that provides power to IREA’s grid in the Conifer vicinity, officials say.
The cause of the outage is under investigation.
Kopp said generators will be brought to the Aspen Park area so residents can charge their cellphones.
