The Colorado State Patrol has identified a 45-year-old Jefferson County woman killed Saturday on Interstate 70 near Idaho Springs.
Michelle Gunn, of Kittredge, died in the afternoon wreck. Officials say she was a passenger on one of the motorcycles.
The motorcyclists were headed east in the center lane of the road when they passed a slower moving vehicle, the State Patrol said. One of the bikes passed the vehicle on the left, and the other on the right.
“When they merged back together they hit each other,” Trooper Tim Sutherland said after the crash.
All three were thrown from the two Harley Davidson motorcycles.
A 47-year-old rider suffered serious injuries, and a 46-year-old rider had moderate injuries.
Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the accident, authorities say.
