
1 Car full of trouble. Two men in a 1998 Honda Civic were arrested July 20 near the 7100 block of Lamar Street in Arvada after being pulled over for expired plates. One of the men had a nationwide warrant for forgery and was arrested after giving a false name. His friend was arrested for felony drug possession after cocaine was found hidden in the car.
2 Shoplifting meth user also a liar. A woman caught trying to leave Kmart, 9881 W. 58th Ave., Arvada, on July 19 with a purse full of unpaid items, a meth pipe and drug syringes gave police a false name, lied about a doctor’s appointment and needing an insulin shot. She was arrested.
3 Disc golf turns violent. A disagreement between two disc golf acquaintances turned into a felony menacing case July 9 when one of the men later looked out his window to see his former friend holding a knife and crouched behind a car parked in front of his house in the 6100 block of Ammons Street, Arvada. He ran out to confront the man and was threatened with a stabbing.
4 No Lovers’ Lane. A 19-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant July 18 near the 8300 block of West 66th Avenue in Arvada after a resident noticed a car had been parked in the same spot for an hour as the occupants smoked marijuana. The driver admitted to smoking a “blunt” and making out with his girlfriend.
5 Dog deaths prevented. An Arvada police officer recorded temperatures ranging from 85 to 125 degrees inside a parked car with two dogs in it at Costco, 5195 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, on July 18. The owner was cited for cruelty to animals.
