A Larimer County sheriff’s deputy has been placed on paid leave after he was arrested after a domestic violence incident.

Deputy Jacob Ediger, 37, was jailed Wednesday morning on charges of third-degree assault and child abuse/endangerment, both misdemeanors, according to a news release from the department. The charges also included a domestic violence enhancement.

Ediger has worked for the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office for four years. He is a patrolman.

The victim, who has not been named, did not require medical attention, the sheriff’s office reported.

Sheriff Justin Smith said in a statement that he was disappointed in the situation and promised that his employees were held to high standards and accountable for law violations.
