FORT COLLINS — There are lulls in any team’s preseason practice routine, when muscles are sore, when the adrenaline of getting on the field as a team has lessened, and it becomes — perhaps only for a day, perhaps more — a grind.
The CSU Rams hit that wall a bit at Tuesday afternoon’s in-pads practice, but new coach Mike Bobo was pleased with his team’s bounce back at the Wednesday morning practice.
“I thought there was good energy,” Bobo said. “We had some lapses defensively and some missed assignments offensively, but I liked the energy, liked the concentration throughout practice. … I feel good about where this football team is at. They responded this morning. We talk about it every day. It’s a grind.”
Bobo said cornerbacks coach Terry Fair, who as a player went through the grind of training camp for six seasons in the NFL, addressed the team Tuesday.
“He talked about how every day you can’t allow yourself or allow your teammates not to go out there and give it (their) best,” Bobo said. “Everybody’s counting on everyone and that’s what we’re trying to build. It’s a process. It’s tough for everybody across the country. Everybody’s going through the same thing. We have to push through and we’re doing a good job.”
The Rams were scheduled to go through a light practice again Wednesday night in the indoor practice facility.
