A sign at the entrance to Rainbow Falls Park campground near Woodland Park. It is the campground where an errant bullet took the life of camper Glenn Martin, who was camping there over the Fourth of July weekend with his family. (Denver Post file)
Re: “Too many forest gun incidents,” Aug. 12 editorial.
I recently found several casings from an assault rifle on a well-used ATV trail in the Arapaho National Forest. Fired in any direction, these bullets could have killed other ATV riders, members of a ranch family, their livestock or any number of wild animals common to the area.
A hunting rifle could do the same thing, but we hunters are paying for the privilege and generally hunt from Sept. 1 to Dec. 31. Republican members of Congress, are you listening?
