Noted: Fertility announced Wednesday that it raised $5.3 million in seed funding from investors led by . Other investors included SOSV, Good Works Ventures, PV Ventures, MENA Venture Investments and 62 Mile Ventures.
The Boulder company’s technology relies the Fertility Awareness Method and that records a woman’s basel body temperature. Wink sends the data wirelessly to a matching app on a mobile device. The app offers a visual way to help users figure out when is the best time to get pregnant — or not get pregnant. The company said last month that 75,000 women have gotten pregnant using Kindara’s system.
But Kindara, apparently, doesn’t want to be just a fertility app. The company says it will use the money to expand into a “broader range of women’s health concerns.” The funds will also be used to manufacturer the Wink device.
“Kindara’s goal is to help women understand not just their fertility but to provide them with a window into their overall health. For example, you can track what you eat, when you exercise, the vitamins you take, and over time you’ll be able to see if there were changes to your fertility chart based off of the types of food you were consuming, or if you were over exercising, etc.,” said Will Sacks, Kindara’s CEO and co-founder, said in an e-mail.
The money will also be used to hire key employees, particularly in design and development. Currently, the company employs 10 people.
