Denver prosecutors say a 58-year-old man earlier this month was late for a flight to Ohio on a trip to his 40th high school reunion.

Marc Rehmar, who was charged with endangering public transportation and hindering transportation, was formally advised in Denver court Friday of the allegations against him.

According to a probable cause statement, Rehmar, on foot, chased down the driver of a tug that was pushing back a United flight on Aug. 6, forcing the driver to stop “pushback operations.”

Rehmar then “insisted on boarding the aircraft,” the statement says.

Authorities say Rehmar pushed open a secure emergency exit in the B Concourse because he was late for his flight when he tried to stop the plane.

The door triggered an alarm, and airport employees and Denver police responded, authorities said.

Rehmar has been released from custody on a $10,000 bond.

Rehmar is due back in court Sept. 9 for a preliminary hearing, prosecutors say.
