Q: My Windows Vista system PC locks up frequently while browsing only to then give me a box stating script problems, with a choice of stop it, let it continue, or debug. It’s driving me buggy. What’s up? ~ Gayle Erickson, Lakewood

A: Whoa! A retro operating system circa 2007! I’m sure this will anger those readers who ask why I still respond to people with Windows questions.

Script errors occur when there are errors in the software code and a plethora of other reasons. Scripting is blocked, corrupted computer, corrupted computer folders and outdated video-card drivers are included in Microsoft’s list of reasons for scripting errors (read more about it at and search for “cause of this problem.”)

Microsoft has a few suggestions, but the key one is to make sure your software has all the latest updates and fixes.
