Chris Myers, a sixth-round pick by the Broncos in 2005, in Houston that he’s retiring after 10 NFL seasons.

Myers became the Broncos’ starting center after spending his first two seasons on the bench.

In 2008, he was acquired by the Gary Kubiak-led Houston Texans in exchange for a 2008 sixth-round draft pick. He took over as the Texans’ center that year and started every game for the next seven seasons.

Myers earned two Pro Bowl selections, in 2011 and 2012, when the Texans had their best seasons under Kubiak. Houston made it to the playoffs both years after going 12-4 and 10-6, respectively. In 2011, Myers helped the Texans’ offense record the second-most rushing yards per game (153.0), trailing only Denver.

The Texans released Myers in 2014, and although he said he received offers from other teams, the desire to continue was no longer there.

“When you know, you know,” he said Tuesday.

Myers immediately begins his next phase, as a member of SportsRadio 610’s broadcast team.
