Saturday-Sunday: The history of Colorado is inextricable from the history of railroads, and Golden’s Colorado Railroad Museum embraces that with its “Great Train Robbery” re-enactment day. Three performances of a historic train robbery (at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Aug. 29-30) are the centerpiece of this look at 1880s culture, with period-appropriate outlaws, lawmen, ladies and gentlemen roaming the grounds. Blacksmith Sam’s leather crafts, Native American storytelling, songs and tall tales of cowboy poetry and (naturally) rides on a historic steam locomotive round out the offerings. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at 17155 W. 44th Ave. in Golden. Children under 2 are free; $5 for children (2-15), $15 for adults, $10 for seniors. 800-365-6263 or .
