Getting your player ready...

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has plenty to celebrate this season. He’s hit 36 home runs, including a home run in six consecutive games. (Andy Cross, The Denver Post)

Nolan Arenado has entered rarefied air.

The Rockies’ third baseman hit a two-run homer off the Giants’ Jake Peavy in the sixth inning Saturday night in the Giants’ 7-3 victory.

It was the sixth consecutive game in which Arenado hit a home run, setting a franchise record.

He bypassed the five homer hit by former Rockies stars Dante Bichette (Aug. 1-5, 1995) and Larry Walker (June 18-23, 1999).

Arenado became the first player to hit a home run in six consecutive games since Baltimore’s Chris Davis did it from Sept. 26 to Oct. 2, 2012.

The all-time major-league record is eight straight games with a home run. Arenado will have his work cut out if he wants to extend his streak to seven on Sunday. The Giants will have ace Madison Bumgarner on the mound.

Following is the list of all-time leaders for most consecutive games with a home run:
