Through Nov. 7: When it comes to big-budget haunted houses, none can best the 13th Floor and Asylum. In their eighth year in the Mile High City, the houses — part of the 13th Floor national chain — continue to ramp up the Hollywood-style special effects with new characters and concepts. This year’s include “Undead: What Lies Beneath” (featuring botched science-experiment beasts), the zombie-virus-themed “Post Mortem: The Escape” and “Primitive Fear: Patient Alpha.” 13th Floor opens on Sept. 18, followed by Asylum on Sept. 25.
