Third-year cornerback Darius Slay picked up his third career interception against Philip Rivers in the Lions’ opener against the Chargers.
If No. 4 comes Sunday against Peyton Manning, he’ll be armed and ready.
“I’m letting him know now, if I get a pick from him, he’s got to sign that,” . “He gotta sign that. I gotta have that. Signature, right then, on the spot. I’m going to have the pen in my pocket. I’m going to his sideline if I do it, like, hey, holler at me.
“I ain’t giving it to the trainers. I’m taking that with me. Everything. To me. Gotta have that.”
Slay, 24, watched Manning while growing up in Georgia and has yet to face him in his pro career; the Broncos last played Detroit in 2011, when Manning was on the sidelines as a Colt and Slay was at Mississippi State.
Although the Broncos are 2-0 this season, Manning has thrown an interception in back-to-back games for the first time as a Bronco. If Slay extends the streak, the honor will be cherished.
“Oh, man, it means a lot,” he said. “Just Peyton Manning. There’s not another Peyton Manning out there, unless he got a Peyton Manning Jr. But other than that, shoot, goodness. What’d you do if you picked him?”
