It definitely was not of the highlight-reel variety.
In fact, it lacked flow, seemed to take an eternity and it was about as ugly as a Week 4 game can be.

As it was, Regis Jesuit scored all of its points in the first half to take a 29-14 decision of host Denver South in nonleague at All-City Stadium. The Raiders, ranked No. 6 in the Associated Press Class 5A poll, are 3-1 and offered no apologies, even if the victory came with a bunch of head-scratching and unsatisfied looks afterward.
“We were missing some assignments and not playing like we should be,” first-year Regis Jesuit coach Danny Filleman said.
“It’s not always pretty,” he said. “The kids are playing with heart and playing with guts.”
Raiders running back Alec Barnes, who ran for two touchdowns, agreed: “lt’s tough to win when the flow for both sides is off. A win’s a win. It’s good.”

The Raiders’ good included Drew Schlegel blocking a punt for a safety, Barnes’ scoring runs of 10 and 35 yards, junior Quentin Birch turning a short pass into a 61-yard catch-and-run for a score and junior Alfred Jones motoring for an 88-yard yard touchdown burst off a short pitch.
But the mistakes and penalties wore on both sides. All told, both teams surpassed 100 yards in penalties and in the second quarter the 4A Rebels (2-2) faced an almost unbelievable fourth-and-70. Plus, South dropped what appeared to be three scoring passes.

Still, coach Tony Lindsay liked his team’s play in the second half, including keeping the Raiders scoreless, saying it was a bright spot “and you’ll see us again.”
Barnes had 92 of his team’s 191 rushing yards.
Speedy Rebel James Hardy caught scoring passes of 36 and 86 yards.
