Getting your player ready...

It appears that October will start off warm, with a few Pacific fronts offering some occasional rain.

Toward midmonth, colder highs from western Canada may bring occasional shots of chilly air and could bring the possibility for early snow, especially in the mountains.

Denver and Colorado Springs may get some snowfall as well.

It will not stay consistently cold through the rest of the month, with some warming, mainly ahead of low-pressure systems.

The average daily temperatures for the month will drop quickly from a normal high of 72 degrees Fahrenheit and a normal low of 42 degrees on the first day of October to 66 and 37 on Oct. 15 and finally down to a normal high and low of 59 and 31 on the last day of the month.

October 2014 turned out milder and drier than normal, but this was partially because of the strengthening El Niño.

Expect a wetter October this year.

Temperatures are likely to be back and forth this October, but it should end up averaging fairly close to normal overall.

About 130 percent of the normal precipitation, which is just shy of an inch, is expected this month. October likely will be the start of a stormy season ahead.
