Light drizzles fell on and off over the Denver metro area Tuesday night as thunderstorms and more rain were predicted to roll in before midnight, forecasters said.

At 8:30 p.m., the pavement glistened with precipitation and clouds were plenty as temperatures in downtown Denver chilled to the mid-50s with a predicted low of 49 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The service put out a hazardous weather outlook for northeast and north central Colorado that warned of brief, heavy rain with cloud to ground lightning and small hail.

About one to three inches of snow was possible in the mountain regions above the timberline overnight, the weather service said.

The Denver area is expected to dry out on Wednesday and temperatures will rise to the 80s by Saturday and Sunday, Cooper said.
