Re: “The effect of raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans,” Oct. 4 letter to the editor.
Letter-writer Guy Wroble writes that when the top marginal tax rate goes up, income inequality goes down. This is true because everyone loses when the top rate goes up. Wroble is typical of liberals who are happy to make everyone suffer, so long as “the rich” suffer more. This reminds me of my favorite bumper sticker, “Socialism is trickle-up poverty.”
It is not the responsibility (or the right) of the government to even out the income of Americans. Any attempt to do so only makes all Americans worse off, except for the bureaucrats who make their living attempting such a policy.
