Getting your player ready...

Saturday. Jake Shimabukuro has defied the odds of the musical world by making his name as something of a superstar on the ukulele. He’s a bit old-school, carrying on the instrumental traditions of Hawaii, where he’s from, and a lot new world, gaining fame via the Internet. His cover of the Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” earned more than 14 million views on YouTube. We’re guessing he’ll play that at Boettcher Concert Hall this weekend, when he joins the Colorado Symphony Orchestra for a concert. The program, which has CSO Assistant Conductor Christopher Dragon on the podium, also features a sampling of Byron Yasui’s Concerto No. 1 for Ukulele. 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Boettcher Concert Hall, Denver Performing Arts Complex, $34-$94. 303-623-7876 or .
